This year, Powerball has reached its record jackpot at a
$1.5 Billion mark. The jackpot was won by three ticket-holders – from Tennessee,
Florida, and California. To this day, the California has yet to step up and
take their share of the jackpot.
Aside from the three winners, the $1.5 billion jackpot also
helped a hefty number of Americans. In the year’s first three months, Powerball
ticket sales brought in $11.8 million for Oregon’s Economic Development fund.
That’s nearly $9 million more than the previous quarter. All thanks to the
record-breaking Powerball jackpot in January.
The larger the jackpot, the higher the sales. The higher the
sales, the more they fund. In the state’s 2013-2015 budget cycle, public
education received 57 percent of lottery funds, and 27 percent went to economic
development. 15 percent were shared to state parks and natural resources.
Meanwhile, 1 percent were given to programs that focused on treating gambling
addiction.
Accordingly, the upcoming Powerball jackpot is at $137
million for Wednesday’s draw. If you want to play the Powerball, you can do so
