Mega Millions and USA Powerball: Robust in 2013

USA Powerball and Mega Millions are generating a lot of buzz as both are now recognized as the largest American lotteries at present. With the winning record they set last year, it's no big surprise that they are on their way to bigger and better things this year.

Mega Millions Trailblazing with a New Record

Everyone's crazy about the rising Mega Millions jackpot in March 2012 which led to the all-time high $656 million jackpot shared by three winning tickets from Maryland, Kansas and Illinois. The shared jackpot was equally divided among the three winners. Each got a cool $218 million, before taxes, under the annuity option. This jackpot is marked in the American lottery history as the largest cash and annuity amounts ever given out to date.

The most curious thing about this draw was the astounding response from players which paved the way for the prize money to balloon. Kelly Cripe, a spokesperson for Mega Millions, reported that sales in the 42 states plus District of Columbia and Virgin Islands, where the game is played, amounted to an amazing $651,915,940.

The US was caught in a frenzy thinking the lottery odds can be beaten.

Powerball Refuses to be Left Behind

Meanwhile, folks at American Powerball announced a newly devised game structure and pricing plan beginning January 2012 to provide people a bigger game and an even bigger jackpot. You can bet your horses that it made a lot of people crazy with excitement. The biggest Powerball prize ever won was on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 for an astonishing amount of $587.5 million. Ticket winners were reported to be from Missouri and Arizona.

With all the crazy amount of jackpots and winnings, people are not far from dreaming that the prize money will soon reach the billion dollar mark, another first in the lottery history.

In the meantime, Mega Millions and American Powerball fans are hooked on monitoring news and development. We're optimistic that jackpots will be bigger and draws more thrilling. You might be wondering why I choose to play these two lottos instead of playing the European ones with tax-free winnings. Well, the answer is I like staying true to my roots and live the American dream of winning the lottery jackpot.

Anyone could be the next winner. The American lottery future is, indeed, so bright, you’ve got to wear shades.
