Couple nearly lost GBP1 million lottery prize

Maureen, 77, and Fred Holt, 80, won GBP1 million but nearly lost it to a fraudster.

Great grandmother Maureen was told that her winning ticket has not won anything by shop worker Farrakh Nizzar whom later tried to collect the prize for himself.

The Camelot investigators found out the truth. Nizzar, 30, pleaded guilty to fraud by misrepresentation.

Maureen said: “The win is amazing – it just came out of the blue and means we can look after our family and gives us security for the rest of our lives.

“It’s a wonderful feeling.”

The couple plans on returning to Fred's old haunts in Hong Kong. Also, Fred to buy his dream car and Maureen to get her teeth done.
