Mine Manager Strikes Gold With Lottery Win

Winning $16 million from the lottery, Steve Murphy, a 52-year old B.C. mine manager has struck it rich. Murphy's lottery ticket was worth a third of the $50 million jackpot, and he collected the prize money from the B.C. Lottery Headquarters Tuesday. The two other winning tickets were sold in Quebec.

Murphy was accompanied by his friend Skip Hale, and his brother-in-law, Shane Coutts, who are also miners. Coutts's said he was watching the Super Bowl with friends at the Atlin rec-center when someone mentioned that a local won the lottery.
