Lottery Sales Up on $250M Jackpot

With the decision to double the Powerball ticket price from $1.00 to $2.00, there's an early indication that it's going to be successful in increasing both the prizes and the lottery earnings. The Powerball lottery jackpot for Wednesday is now at $250 million, and if it isn't won, the $300 million mark is expected for next Saturday's jackpot.

With the bigger prizes, there is a renewed and higher interest in the general public. This interest is expected to translate to more lottery players, bigger sales, and ultimately, to higher lottery earnings. So far, the increased ticket prizes have not impacted negatively on the total ticket sales, which are up 40% compared to the same period last year.
