Iowa Lottery to give away $2M from expired Winnings

The Iowa Lottery will be giving away $2 million in cash prizes from their share of the unpaid or expired winnings the lottery has accumulated. A big part of the cash prizes will come from the state's share of an unpaid $77 million Powerball jackpot ticket. Lawyers representing Crawford Shaw, a New York attorney, who in turn represented a trust, came forward with the winning ticket just hours before the Dec. 29 deadline. After being asked for the identity of the winner, Shaw withdraw the claim in January. Iowa law enforcement authorities are still discussing if Shaw broke any laws when he attempted to collect on behalf of the trust. The details of how the Iowa Lottery will be giving away the money are still to be finalized.
