Record Winnings Payout for UK National Lottery

The UK National Lottery operator, Camelot, has paid out record highs in prizes and charity work due to the increasing sales and popularity of its lottery draws and scratch cards. Camelot said winnings were more than £1.7 billion in the six months leading to September 24, an increase of £300 million over the same period last year.

For the same period, funding for good causes which include financing for the arts and healthcare was also up 17% to £918.3 million. It is also on-track to hit its target of raising £750 million for the London 2012 Olympics. Currently, it has already raised £650 million in funding.
