Christchurch Earthquake: Government approves special Lotto draw

Following the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake, the government of New Zealand seeks to find solutions in order to fund community projects and have come up with a special lottery draw for this purpose.

Half of all Lotto sales for this coming week will be donated to help with Christchurch earthquake relief efforts, Internal Affairs Minister Nathan Guy and the New Zealand Lotteries Commission have announced tonight.
“Under section 245 of the Gambling Act 2003, New Zealand Lotteries can promote a ‘Special Purpose Lottery’ for a community purpose. This requires a written direction to the Board from the Minister of Internal Affairs and I have now signed this.
“Given that the core purpose of Lotto is to raise money for the community, the Government has agreed to this move.
“Fifty cents from every dollar spent on Lotto, Lotto Strike and Lotto Powerball next week will be donated to the Christchurch earthquake relief. The March 5 Lotto draw will then take place in the usual way, in accordance with the game rules.
“New Zealand Lotteries have budgeted to raise $155 million for the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board this year, which is used for the benefit of the community. Our advice is that they will still achieve that target, meaning that other community groups will not miss out as a result of this draw,” says Mr Guy.

2011 - Your Luck in the Year of the Metal Rabbit

Many people may be anxious during the Year of the Metal Rabbit although Chinese astrologers may predict that this will be a good year for business and entrepreneurship in general.  As far as luck is concerned in the year 2011, people born in the year of the sheep, horse, tiger and monkey are said to have some good money luck and career luck this year.  So people born on these years, have you kept your lottery tickets safe just in case?

One Chinese Astrologer says, "Other Chinese zodiac sign that have good money luck but not so much in career luck are those born in the year of the pig. Those who were born in the year of the chicken, rabbit and snake need to take precautions because this year is not lucky for them with regards to money, career or health. And those who were born in the year of the rat, cow, dragon and dog have fair money and career luck."

In any case, it is always beneficial to take the time to meditate and plan one's finances because you'll never known when a big cash prize payout may come your way!

Lotto Millionaire goes back to work at McDonalds

Lottery millionaire, Luke Pittard, who was in his early twenties when he won £1.3 Million on the UK National Lottery was found returning to his former job at McDonalds in Cardiff.  And his reason - because he misses his friends.

After winning the UK lotto, Luke splashed out on a new home, car, an expensively grand wedding, and holiday in the Canary Islands. But after the initial spending spree, he decided that he wanted to go back to his old life and just have the normal life he used to have and he couldn't be happier.

Flipping burgers for an hourly rate of £5.85, the young millionaire said, "They all think I'm a bit mad but I tell them there's more to life than money...  I loved working at McDonald's before I became a millionaire and I'm really enjoying being back there again."

The World's Biggest Lottery?

In general, the belief of most lottery players is that the Spanish El Gordo lottery is the biggest lottery in the world, although the large cash payout is usually split between multiple lotto players.

In the USA, the Mega Millions lottery isn't far behind in paying out huge cash prizes to its lottery winners as jackpots have the potential to grow to as much as $500 Million!  On January 2011, for instance, the Jackpot Prize of $380 Million was advertised and on the 4th of January 2011, the Mega Millions lottery set a new world record for an accumulated jackpot with a cash value of $240 Million which was shared by 2 winners.

Playing the Mega Millions is easy! One simply needs to select 5 numbers out of 56 and 1 Mega Ball to win, and you can also choose to play this lottery online.

Richest Countries in the World

According to the International Monetary Fund data for the year 2010, Luxembourg comes in at the number one spot for the richest country based on their GDP or Gross Domestic Product.  Lottery winners looking at investing their money in business, etc. may take into account that this country is known for its stability - high income economy, moderate growth, low inflation rates, as well as low unemployment.

Countries Norway, Qatar, Switzerland and Denmark follow the list. However, Qatar seems to be catching up quickly with Luxembourg, with its growing budget surplus. Proved oil reserves of 15 billion barrels should enable continued output at current levels for 37 years. Qatar's proved reserves of natural gas are nearly 26 trillion cubic meters, about 14% of the world total and third largest in the world. Win the lotto and invest your money!

Millionaire's Dream: Owning a Piece of Paradise

It is every Millionaire's dream to own their own piece of paradise on a tropical island.  One of these islands in particular, is popular to a number of rich Russian and Chinese businessmen and is located in South East Asia.

The island known as Boracay, is an island in the Philippines famous for its white coral beaches. In 1990, It was elected by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook as one of the best beaches in the world and again in 1996 by the British publication TV Quick as the world’s number one tropical beach.  It is an island that NEVER SLEEPS! Rain or shine, one can be assured that they can get something to eat 24 hours a day. A true party island! Among the Hollywood personalities who had discreetly visited Boracay include the late Michael Jackson, Madonna, and recently actor Michael Madsen. Yet, despite the island's increasing fame, one can also enjoy peace and tranquility in the island's more secluded beaches and five star hotel accommodations.

One of the most expensive apartments and villas have been sold to multi-millionaire businessmen. The most expensive to date was a 180 square meter apartment sold for $1,000,000 with a top floor swimming pool.  Now don't we all wish we could win the lottery?

So what's so special about this drink to warrant its enormous cost?

If you're a lottery millionaire it may be worth knowing that this drink contains a real 18k white gold diamond ring in place of an olive!

The Dazzle Cocktail contains a six and a half carat pink tourmaline and diamond ring which is set in 18-carat white gold.  A special safe has even been put up to keep the rings in the bar and customers can choose any ring from the range with the most expensive costing as much as 27,000 pounds.  This extravagant millionaire's drink was the creation of a senior bartender, Jay Malik, who devised this special drink to suit their restaurant's Pink Dinners month.
